Some weeks change the way you look at your own work. The Japanese week was one of them — a concentrated stretch of meetings, presentations, and conversations that connected years of effort in Gaza to a network of people and institutions far beyond it.
Why this week mattered
Behind every introduction was a long history of building: a design company started in 2014, product lines launched from scratch, training programs delivered to people who had never opened a design tool before. Presenting that story to an international audience made its shape clearer than it had ever been from the inside.
The most valuable outcome was not a certificate or a photograph. It was the confirmation that creative work rooted in a specific place, with a specific community, travels well — and that the questions asked by entrepreneurs in Tokyo are not so different from the ones asked in Gaza.
What we brought back
- A wider network of partners interested in creative and technical collaboration.
- Practical models for structuring training and incubation programs.
- A renewed conviction that supporting women and young designers is the most durable investment we can make.
Hard work does not always pay off on the timeline you expect — but it does compound.
Thank you to everyone who made the week possible. The work continues.
